Edward's Farewell

After Edward Loo's hard work for this company, he finally stepped down his position as a store personnel with a lot of regrets and disappointments, and the old man at his age of 62 should be leaving at mid September , yet he forgo all his leaves just to leave this company as soon as possible. Wad a ridicule.

Working from NatSteel way back to NatSteel Chemicals since 30+ years ago, he belonged to Group Technology at the time I just enetered as a LT. He was a R&D technical personnel, with full of experience and little in paperwork. He is expert to the refractory physical testing, as well as Lab based, knowing AAs and all the wet methods of water treatment. But since the steel mill was sold, there's a lot of job change for him. I still remember the time when I just in, he is a very energetic, full of vigour person at the age of 59. Well, he not young anymore, but he offered his help to SRC and actually established the weekly badminton court at Bukit Batok Sec School. His liason with the principal, as he was a instructor himself, boost alot of audiences as well. He offered to teach me free badminton, yet I was too lazy for it.

After a year, Siti after Ah Chong left, there's a lot of changes. Edward was literally forced to replace Siti's place. A position looked to be easy, yet after he took over (with little experience in that) , he messed up the whole store. Goods went missing and accounts all in chaotic, let alone my department. Everyone started pin point him, till all gave up and tried to co-ordinate with him, till every month stock take. All staff seems hopeless against him, but under great stress, after Andy came and slow picking up, he finally build up his rapport with Andy and Felix, and his mistakes tuned down, which was after his 1 year.

I didn't know if management is actually v. mad at him, but at the 1st place, he was forced to take the job. To ask a wrong person to do a right job is totally out. All people suffers! But management just bear with it, bcos they see his efforts in the company. Day finally came. At mid July, HR approached him at the wrong place to announce his denial of service after the age of 62, causing disruptions to his normal work life. A old man should be greatly appreciated with n years working in the company, yet after the inappropriate timing and wrong place to announcement, the old man started thinking negative, and he was suffering from depression, and was refered to mental hospital with some treatment. Having suffered an great injustice, he finally came to terms after the apologetic GM and HR for their inappropriate acts in announcement of his retirement, and co would no longer let him service the company after his retirement age.

Yesterday, I went store to have a final handshake before he leave, I can see his dessolution and disappointment face. Although he tried to hide it, for he wanted it to be amiable ending towards the cold company. He must have had crying in his heart. The agonising feel. When Siah and I was chatting away, he mentioned about his thoughts. Stella, Shafiee and Zhou You, with Choon Sin came over to give him the last farewell greetings, and we really hope he will be happy always, after leaving this stupid company. I also had quite a thought to this company, and it's just a mean company, cold hearted and selfish.

To a retiree man Pak Edward, I ressolute you. Thanks for all your efforts and helps you had rendered me. Appreciated.
